Tennessee State takes down Lindenwood 96-86

Tennessee State beat Lindenwood 96-86 in a high-scoring affair Saturday afternoon. The Tigers shot a sizzling, season-best 60.3% (41-68) from the field and were also cooking from downtown, connecting on 50% (7-14) of their attempts from distance. 

TSU jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before the Lions got on the board via a Dontrez Williams three-pointer. After tying the game at 16 and 18 apiece, Lindenwood took its first lead of the evening on Jadis Jones’ floater that made the score 20-18 at the 12:19 mark of the opening half. Tennessee State reclaimed the lead 27-20 at the 9:40 mark, following a 9-0 spurt. The game would see a tie and 6 lead changes before TSU got a hair of breathing room on Travis Harper II’s layup, which made the score 41-37 with 1:53 left in the half. Both teams tacked on buckets to make the score 43-39 at halftime.

Lindenwood played from underneath in the second half, trimming the lead to as little as 2’points early in the half. Tennessee State never relinquished the point position, expanding their advantage to as much as 15, and went on to the 96-86 win

Travis Harper II dropped a season high 30 points on 13-21 from the floor and 2-5 from downtown. Aaron Nkrumah added 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Dante Harris turned in his second-highest scoring game of the season with 20 points, while Antoine Lorick III added 14 points and 6 rebounds. 

The Tigers (13-7, 7-3) return to action Thursday, January 29 when they host Little Rock, whom TSU defeated 84-79 on January 3. Tip-off for Thursday’s game is scheduled for 7:30 pm CST.
